Why We Love Summer in Venice, Florida

by Michelle Morgan

As locals, we know a little secret: while winter may bring the buzz of snowbirds and seasonal visitors, summer is when Venice truly feels like home. It’s our time to breathe, reconnect, and savor all the things that make this little slice of paradise so special.

No Lines, No Reservations — Just Freedom

One of the greatest joys of summer in Venice is the return of ease and spontaneity. Want to grab dinner downtown? You don’t need to book two weeks in advance. Craving breakfast at your favorite café? Walk right in. There’s no fighting for parking spots, no waiting lists, no rush. It’s like the town exhales — and so do we.

The Return of Familiar Faces

Summer gives us something even better than warm weather: conversations. With the season’s pace slowing down, we get to reconnect with the familiar faces we’ve missed. Our favorite bartenders, baristas, and servers finally have time to chat. We’re not just guests again — we’re neighbors, friends, part of the rhythm of the community.

Beach Days, Your Way

Venice Beach, the South Jetty, and the pier are still as stunning as ever — but with space to spread out and stay awhile. It’s not uncommon to enjoy long, peaceful hours by the shore with only the sound of waves and a gentle breeze. And with Sharky’s newly renovated and ready to welcome us back, there’s no better way to cap off a beach day than with a cold drink, fresh seafood, and that unbeatable Gulf sunset.

Time to Play

With the courts a little less crowded, summer is the perfect time to hit the public parks for a round of pickleball or tennis. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, there’s a place for everyone to get in the game, break a sweat, and share a laugh.

A Community That Comes Alive

In the summer, it feels like everyone comes out of hiding. The quieter streets mean more friendly hellos on morning walks, more impromptu gatherings, more genuine connection. We remember what it feels like to live here, not just get through the season. We rediscover the joy of slow living, of sunset strolls and spontaneous plans.

And Yes — We Love Our Snowbirds

Let’s be clear — we love our snowbirds! We know how vital they are to our local economy, how they energize our town and support our businesses during the busy season. Venice wouldn’t be the vibrant, thriving place it is without them. But when summer rolls around, we get the rare chance to press pause, recharge, and embrace the quiet beauty of our hometown.

So while others may count the days until winter returns, we’re savoring every second of this golden season. Summer in Venice isn’t just quieter — it’s richer, deeper, more ours. It’s when we fall in love with our town all over again.

See you at the beach. 🏖️
